Sunday morning I finished a series of messages about the DISCIPLINES OF DISCIPLESHIP. My final message concerned worship as a discipline. I emphasized that when we truly worship we are engaged in spiritual warfare. We are also equipping ourselves for the inevitable conflicts that life will bring our way. We can use personal worship to prepare ourselves for difficult tasks and to endure challenging experiences. As I lay in the hospital recently and reflected on my emergency surgery and all of the new realities that I was facing physically, I wept and worshiped. In that context, God revealed to me that he had sent the trial for my good and his glory. There is a list of truths that I shared on Sunday that I want to present here. They are:
1. WORSHIP QUICKENS THE CONSCIENCE WITH THE HOLINESS OF GOD.
2.WORSHIP FEEDS THE MIND WITH THE TRUTH OF GOD.
3. WORSHIP PURGES THE IMAGINATION BY THE BEAUTY OF GOD.
4. WORSHIP OPENS THE HEART TO THE LOVE OF GOD.
5. WORSHIP DEVOTES THE WILL TO THE PURPOSE OF GOD.
Never underestimate the importance of genuine worship!
